It’s our perspective of the world around us and what we believe about our own self-worth. We believe that material things will make one happy and we forget to truly look at our inner self.

When you hold onto the past events and experiences, it’s like carrying hundreds of pounds of emotions on and in your body throughout the rest of your life. As you hold onto judgement of things you perceived that was wrong you shame yourself and have regret. You stop yourself from seeing the lesson and having gratitude for the experience and learning.

Spending time ‘attempting’ to forget your words and actions that occurred within the experience, leads you down a path of you unintentionally forgetting other things in your life. It’s okay to remember, just don’t re-live it!

Acknowledge-Forgive-Release

Acknowledging: The experience gives you the space and time to understand the issue. That way you create space in your mind and body.

Forgiveness: If you are unable to forgive the person for whatever you perceived as wrong, forgive yourself. Forgive yourself for accepting what you have been holding onto for so long, believing it would somehow be resolved.

Release: You are not responsible for other people’s healing. You are 100% responsible for your own healing. You are here to learn from the experience.

A new perspective happens when you have learned from the experience and are able to look at the person and/or situation in a different way. You have the freedom to grow once more.

Whose perspective, is it?

During this season it is typical for my family to celebrate Christmas because I was raised to believe in Christ. I believe that a man named Jesus Christ was born on this earth. He was a man who walked among the sick and taught others how to take accountability for their actions, which resulted in the forgiveness of other’s (perceived) sins.

What is Christmas in today’s world?

Is it the receiving of gifts? Connected to the material world. Has there been a loss of perception as to why there is a celebration of the season?

Or is it the celebration of new life? The birth of Christ where the new life is symbolized by the (live) tree, decorating it and calling it a Christmas tree. The giving of gifts as it was done 2000 years ago.

We now hear happy holidays instead of Christmas. That’s because there are others who believe differently – or don’t believe at all. I feel it’s out of respect. For it seems we humans have a need to celebrate.

What’s the purpose and what’s the reason we feel a need to celebrate? Have we lost our way? Or is there a different or new way? What’s the reason you celebrate this season?

Believing:

What do you choose to believe? How does that affect your perception of the season?

I believe in love. Loving mankind. The energy of loving-kindness creates peace. Isn’t that what the season is all about? Peace on Earth. The coming together of families from near and far to share food and celebrate the season in their own way. I believe in giving, of my time and talents to enhance other people’s lives. To bring joy with a smile and acknowledgment of the person(s) who needs it most. The love of the light(s), the sparkle of gold and silver, red and green and for my home purple and blue.

The energy of the season is fulfilling and wonderful for most – I am acutely aware there are many others who will be alone during this season, others who do not have enough to eat or a home to live in. Our family adopts a family each season. We have hope in our hearts that in a small way, we are making a difference for them.
