Give Yourself Kudos

Louise Hay teaches mirror work. She tells us to look into the mirror and say “I love you, I really really love you”.  She also encourages us to wink when we look into a mirror. There are so many other fun things we can do while looking into a mirror, blowing kisses make us feel good. Waving acknowledges us. I’m sure you can think of more.

Well one day I was taking a very close look at my face and saw the fine lines of aging. I thought “I am now putting myself out into the public eye, I better look good! That was a judgment and most certainly not a loving thought. For the first time in my life I decided to exfoliate the skin on my face. What occurred was the opposite and I definitely did not have younger looking skin. I had a severe reaction to the chemicals in the product, and the skin on my face had a lot more than just fine lines. I developed a red bumpy rash that covered most of my cheeks and spread to my nose. To this date it has been over three weeks and it is just starting to clear up. I have beautiful skin and very rarely wear makeup.

So what was I thinking and what did my thoughts create? I was not good enough. I don’t deserve to be in the public eye. I am not capable of putting on workshops or coaching. My thoughts created my presence. I had beat myself up and self-sabotaged! I had created an external problem that justified my fear of people not attending my workshops or coaching.

I always told my daughter that beauty is also on the inside. I now needed to remind myself to walk my talk.

I needed to stop and feel and think what my next steps were. I decided to go outside. I sat in front of my flower garden and lay down on the grass. It seems I needed to connect with Mother Nature and realized I was grounding myself.

I came back inside and started to review affirmations I had already created, and only found one that talked about my physical appearance. It was time to create affirmations around how I felt about my appearance to the world and myself.

To begin with, I looked up what Louise Hay wrote about skin.

Skin – Protects our individually. A sense organ.

Affirmation: I feel safe to be me.

That triggered a feeling. “Safe to be me”. Am I not safe? Why not?

My affirmation: I am safe to be me. I am aging gracefully. I radiate light and I am a gift to the world.

Skin Problems (Hives, Psoriasis, Rash) – Anxiety, fear. Old buried guck. I am being threatened.

Affirmation: I lovingly protect myself with thoughts of joy and peace. The past is forgiven and forgotten. I am free in this moment.

Trigger: The past; judgment. Fear; I am not good enough. Past events and forgiveness.

My affirmations: I have wisdom that the world desires to hear and learn. Forgiveness: I forgive and release others and myself from all judgments in the past and present.
